Deepika Padukone’s recent extended cameo in the Shah Rukh Khan starter Jawan has garnered attention for her performance and commitment to the project.
Despite rumours suggesting she was paid a substantial sum for her appearance, Deepika has clarified that she does not charge any fee for cameo roles. This revelation extends to her previous cameo appearances in films like ’83 and Cirkus, where she also waived her fee.
“I wanted to be a part of ’83’ because I wanted it to be an ode to women who stand behind their husbands’ glory. I watched my mother do it. This was my homage to wives who make sacrifices to support their husbands’ careers. Other than that, any special appearance for Shah Rukh Khan, I am there. Same with Rohit Shetty,” Deepika explained in a recent interview.
Deepika’s relationship with Shah Rukh Khan goes beyond just co-stars; they consider each other their “lucky charm.” This special bond has been evident in their successful collaborations over the years.
Their partnership began with their debut film ‘Om Shanti Om’ in 2007, which became a massive hit. Subsequently, they shared the screen in several other successful films, including ‘Chennai Express’ and Happy New Year.
Looking ahead, Deepika Padukone has a busy lineup of projects. She will star alongside Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor in ‘Fighter,’ collaborate with Prabhas for ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ and work on the Hindi remake of ‘The Intern’ alongside Amitabh Bachchan.
Deepika’s dedication to her craft and her willingness to contribute to meaningful projects continue to make her a beloved figure in the Indian film industry.
