Deepika Padukone has been recently facing unjustified hate and shaming on the Internet ever since the ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actress was captured by the paparazzi while going to cast her vote for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, joined by her husband, Ranveer Singh. Her peer, Alia Bhatt recently showed support to Padukone.
The actress announced her pregnancy a few months ago and has kept it mostly private. Padukone stepped out on 20 May to cast her vote and netizens immediately jumped at the opportunity to shame her. She faced harsh criticism over her body, people even went far enough to call her baby bump fake.
Seeing the negative reaction surrounding Padukone, journalist Faye D’Souza wrote a message in support of her on her Instagram and she did not mince her words at all.
The post read – “Dear social media, Deepika Padukone stepped out to do her democratic duty and vote. She did not ask for your feedback on her body or pregnancy. You have no right to comment on any aspect of her life. Stop it. Behave. — Faye”
Alia Bhatt was very quick in liking the post. She was joined by her mother, Soni Razdan, and sisters, Pooja Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, in liking the post too.
Actress Shruti Seth, best known for her role as Jia in ‘Shararat’ also expressed her support for her and wrote, “Thanks @deepikapadukone too busy conquering the world to be hell! She’s walking around these views.”
Actor Aahana Kumra commented on the post saying, “Well done Faye.”
TV star Tina Datta also added, “Right! People have lost it.”
