A day after Salman Khan announced his show Bigg Boss 17 with a promo, his name has been embroiled in a controversy. His ex-flame Somy Ali has claimed that Sangeeta Bijlani, his ex-fiancee called off her marriage with him, after she caught him red-handed at Somy’s apartment.
“The wedding cards were printed, but Sangeeta caught Salman red-handed in my apartment. What Salman did to Sangeeta, the same happened to me. This is called karma, when I grew up a little, I understood about it”, Somy told Aaj Tak reportedly.

She had claimed that Salman used to abuse her physically calling it his love and care.

For the unversed, Salman Khan was supposed to get married to Sangeeta Bijlani in 1994. He was madly in love with her and was even ready to take the plunge. Salman and Sangeeta had met on the sets of a TV commercial and started dating in 1986.
The wedding invites were sent out, grapevine suggests. Preparations were in full swing, but then, it is said that Sangeeta allegedly got to know that he was cheating on her with Somy Ali.

During an episode of Koffee With Karan, Salman Khan had spilled the beans on his broken marriage. He said, “There was a time that I really wanted to get married and then it just didn’t work out. I have always come so close. People have got cold feet. ‘Theek hai, boyfriend, isko zindagi bhar jhelna padega kya (They think I am a good boyfriend but it’s difficult to tolerate me for the rest of their lives).’ With Sangeeta, even the cards and all were printed,” he said.

When Karan Johar asked him about the rumours of him cheating on Sangeeta, Salman said, “Yeah, kind of… I get caught. I’m stupid.”
Who is Somy Ali?
She is a Pakistani actress, writer, filmmaker, model and now an activist. She moved to India at the age of 16. She had a huge crush on Salman after watching him in Maine Pyar Kiya. She starred in movies like Krishan Avtaar, Anth, Yaar Gaddar, Teesra Kaun, Aao Pyaar Karen, Mafia, and Chupp. She was dating Salman Khan between 1991 and 1997. She left India after her break-up. “I never went there (India) initially to be a part of Bollywood. Once I broke up with my ex, there was nothing keeping me there”, she said.
Somy Ali currently lives in Miami and runs a non-profit organization called No More Tears, which assists and empowers the victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
