Anant Ambani gifted his groomsmen watches worth Rs 2 crore during his wedding festivities earlier this year. However, Mika Singh is upset that he didn’t get one as well.
Singer Mika Singh opened up about performing at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding earlier this year. He said that while he got paid more than enough for the performance, he is ‘upset’ with the Ambanis for not having gifted him an expensive watch. The family presented their close friends and select members of the entertainment industry with timepieces worth a reported Rs 2 crore, but Mika wasn’t included in the list of recipients.
In an interview with The Lallantop, he playfully made his dissatisfaction known. “I went to perform at Anant Ambani’s wedding. He distributed a lot of money to everyone, even to me. But I am angry about one thing: I did not get the watch that all the other close people got.” Giving a shout-out to his ‘brother’ Anant, Mika said that if he watches the interview, he should probably think about gifting him the expensive watch as well.
Without divulging exactly how much he was paid, Mika said that he can easily survive for five years with the money. “I was paid a lot of fees. But I cannot tell you how much this amount was. But if you want to guess, I can say that I got so much money that I could easily spend five years with it. I don’t have any special expenses. So I could easily spend five years with that money,” he said.
Mika also spoke about how the perception of artistes performing at private events such as weddings has changed over the years. Citing the example of himself and his brother Daler Menhndi, he said, “When we two brothers used to sing at weddings, people used to feel bad that they were going and singing at weddings. Now, I see that everyone is singing at weddings. It doesn’t seem like anyone is going to a big show and performing. Now, they are earning all their money by singing at weddings.”
According to reports, the Ambanis gifted Anant’s groomsmen, as well as actors Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh, Audemars Piguet limited-edition luxury watches –– each worth over Rs 2 crore. The wedding festivities took place over several months and multiple continents earlier this year.
