Priyanka Chopra recalls going through a dark phase in life when she moved to New York: My body, my heart needed to mourn

Priyanka Chopra recently revealed that she underwent a dark chapter in her life after she moved to the US.

Priyanka Chopra had recently shocked everyone when she had revealed that she decided to quit Bollywood due to dirty politics. She then moved to the US after she got the lead role in the American television show Quantico. But living in the US was really not a cakewalk for her.
In a chat show, Priyanka revealed that she underwent a dark chapter in her life when she started living away from her family and friends.

She couldn’t shake off being sad. She also felt an extended time of grief after her father’s demise from cancer in 2013.
She talked about going through low levels of confidence and shared how learnt to cope with difficult situations in life. As an outsider, she was adapted to many new environments, which helped her navigate through many crazy situations.

Talking about her time in New York, Priyanka said that her heart and body needed to mourn and she needed pizzas to do it. She allowed herself to binge on pizza, a wine of bottle and a sh*tty movie. She added that she had reached a point where she knew that she had hit rock bottom. And now the only way was up.
Meanwhile, Priyanka is all set to rule the Met Gala 2023 with her fashionable avatar. She made her Met Gala debut in 2017. Her last Met Gala appearance was in 2019. Reportedly, Alia Bhatt will also represent India at Met Gala 2023, which will take place on May 1 in New York City.
Later this year, Priyanka Chopra is expected to begin shooting for her next Bollywood film. She has signed up for Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.

Priyanka Chopra recently made the headlines when she revealed that the real reason behind her shift from Bollywood to Hollywood. The actor revealed she moved to the west because of the dirty politics in the Hindi film industry. The actor is busy promoting her new show, Citadel and has been opening up about several things including her work-life balance after daughter Malti, her shift to New York and more.

Recently, Chopra said that moving to New York was difficult for her and she needed to mourn. Speaking to Hoda Kotb from the Today Show, Priyanka shared how she learnt to cope with the hard situations in life. She said, “I think in different phases of my life, I kind of taught myself or learned how to be my own hype girl. And it helped me navigate many crazy situations.”

She added, “I’ve thought about that phase in my life a lot. And my body needed to mourn, my heart needed to mourn, and yeah, you know, I needed pizzas to do it. I allowed myself to do that…pizza and a bottle of wine and a sh*tty movie. I reached a point where I knew that bottom had been hit. And now, the only way was up.”


Previously in a conversation with Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert, Priyanka said, “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.”

She added, “This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn’t want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require groveling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn’t feel like I wanted to do it.”
