The recent rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9 has left the nation in shock. A 31-year-old doctor, Moumita Debnath, was discovered raped and murdered in a hospital lecture hall. The tragedy has prompted widespread outrage and calls for justice across social media platforms. Earlier, celebs like Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana, and others posted heartfelt posts condemning the incident. Now, more celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Suhana Khan, and others have expressed distress over the ongoing threat to women’s safety and have demanded strict action.
On the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, Hrithik Roshan took to his social media page ‘X’ to react to the heartbreaking Kolkata doctor rape case. The Kaabil actor wrote, “Yes, we need to evolve into a society where we all feel equally safe. But that is going to take decades. It’s going to hopefully happen by sensitising and empowering our sons and daughters. The next generation will be better. We will get there. Eventually. But what in the interim? Right now, justice would be to put a hard stop to such atrocities. And the only way to do that is with a punishment so harsh that it scares the living daylights out of such perpetrators. That’s what we need. Perhaps? I stand with the victim’s family in seeking justice for their daughter, and I stand with all the doctors that were attacked last night.? The former actress mentioned how it has been 50 years on this planet and she has to teach her daughter the same things she was taught as a child—to not go alone at the park, school, or beach.
