Ram Kapoor praised Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan for their dedication and recalled an incident early in his career when an actor made the crew wait for two days in Switzerland.
Ram Kapoor, a well-known TV actor who has also appeared in supporting roles in films, recently shared his thoughts on the professionalism displayed by today’s generation of actors—a stark contrast to what he experienced early in his career. Ram praised Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan for their unwavering commitment to their projects. He also recounted an incident from his early days in the industry when an actor kept the cast and crew waiting for two days in Switzerland.
Speaking on the YouTube channel Let’s Talk With DevnaG, Ram said, “You could be a spoilt brat and still be a star back then, but you can’t do that today. Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan… they are all professionals because they know they have to be that way. Alia is where she is because she’s so professional it will shock you. All of them come on set fully prepared. They ask the director, ‘Sir, what do you want?’ This is the industry these days—because if you’re not like that, then get out.”
Ram also lauded Akshay Kumar for his exemplary professionalism, highlighting how even superstars today must adhere to high standards. He said, “This has happened now. This wasn’t the case when I started. A lot of actors used to treat themselves like stars. Today, even Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar… they’re all professionals. I just finished a film with Akshay, and he is more professional than anyone I have ever worked with in my life.”
Reflecting on Salman Khan’s work ethic, Ram added, “I’ve seen Salman partying and drinking, but when it comes to preparing for a film, he’s relentless. He’ll shoot till 12 at night, come home at 1 a.m., and work out till 3 a.m. They are all professional.”
Ram also shared a personal experience with an unprofessional actor early in his career. “When I started, there were actors who made people wait on set for two days—this happened in Switzerland. A crew of 80 people waited for him for two days. But now, this practice doesn’t exist,” he recalled.
Interestingly, Ram’s anecdote aligns with a previous statement made by producer Vashu Bhagnani. Bhagnani had revealed that Govinda once failed to show up on a film set in Switzerland for three days. However, when he finally arrived, he managed to complete most of his work in a single day
