Renowned singer and composer Mika Singh recently shared the tumultuous experience of producing the web series Dangerous, featuring the celebrity couple Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover. During the interview, Mika Singh recounted the hurdles he faced, from logistical nightmares to unexpected behaviour from the lead actors, which ultimately made him rethink his aspirations in the world of film production.

Initially, Mika had envisioned casting Karan Singh Grover opposite a newcomer to maintain the project’s budget. However, Bipasha Basu expressed a strong desire to join the series alongside her husband. While the couple’s inclusion didn’t strain the budget, it marked the beginning of what Mika described as an unpleasant collaboration. The series faced multiple challenges during its production, including a major setback when Karan Singh Grover suffered a leg injury while performing a stunt. This incident caused significant delays, extending the shooting schedule far beyond the original timeline.
The dubbing process proved equally frustrating, with repeated cancellations as the actors often cited health issues like sore throats. Mika was left bewildered by these delays, especially given the professional commitments involved. Filming, which was supposed to wrap up within a month during a London schedule, ended up stretching to two months due to numerous complications. Mika revealed that he had arranged for a single hotel room for the married couple to reduce costs. However, the duo demanded separate accommodations and eventually insisted on moving to a completely different hotel, further escalating production expenses.
Additionally, their refusal to film a key scene a kiss between the on-screen couple added to the turmoil. Despite signing contracts that explicitly included the scene, the pair reportedly created significant friction over this particular sequence. Mika found the situation ironic, given their status as a real-life couple. Mika highlighted a stark disparity in how established actors treat smaller producers compared to industry giants. He observed that while stars often show unwavering dedication to big production houses like Dharma Productions or Yash Raj Films, they tend to display an unprofessional attitude when working with smaller banners. This double standard left Mika disillusioned and questioning the ethics of the industry.
Reflecting on the project’s failure, Mika admitted that he regretted not taking advice from industry stalwarts Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, who had cautioned him against producing the series. Salman had suggested that Mika should cast himself in the project, leveraging his popularity to ensure better success. Akshay, on the other hand, advised him to avoid venturing into production altogether, warning him of the financial and emotional toll it could take.
Ignoring this advice, Mika chose to focus solely on production and music for the series. However, in hindsight, he feels that his presence in the project might have helped salvage its outcome, at least through the music’s success.
