Natalia Janoszek will also be seen in Diler starring Ibrahim Ali Khan.
Polish actress and model Natalia Janoszek is set to capture hearts all over again as she announces her comeback with Housefull 5 and a film co-starring Ibrahim Ali Khan. After participating in the International Film Festival of India at Goa last month, she flew to Bollywood city Mumbai. Here are some excerpts from an interview:
So, how was your experience in Goa?
Natalia Janoszek: I wanted to visit Goa for a long time. Since I started to work in India back in 2012, everybody was like, you need to go and see Goa and I was always planning and never reached. This year, I reached Goa and I was really happy and excited. I was observing the IFFI Goa Film Festival for the last few years, and I wanted to experience it myself. So, I combined the two – I got to visit Goa and attend the Film Festival.
You are returning to Bollywood with Housefull 5. What’s it been like being part of the giant cast of the comedy franchise?
Natalia Janoszek: First of all, it’s amazing to be in such a big production. At Nadiadwala Grandsons, they do amazing movies – and what’s more exciting, we were shooting part of the movie during the cruise, cruising around Europe. It was an amazing experience. We had all the cast in one big ship all together.
Also, Sajid Nadiadwala was there with his wife Warda, so it was great to be with these people and we kind of became like one big family. We were joking together, we had fun, we played ball with Akshay sir. The movie will be out in June next year and I’m looking forward to it. My role is small, but I’d rather have a small role in a big movie.
You are also working in Diler alongside star son Ibrahim Ali Khan. What was it like working with him?
Natalia Janoszek: It’s not the only production he’s taking part in. Yes, we have scenes together and we’ve been shooting in London. We have some more shooting coming up in Mumbai at the beginning of the year so it’s nice to be back, with a big production house like Maddock Films. Looking forward, and I feel like it’s also my year. It’s like a comeback and kind of relaunching myself in B-town because let’s be honest, COVID kind of stopped the industry. I’m an international actress so I needed also to go back to Europe.
Did you miss Bollywood in these years?
Natalia Janoszek: I was even thinking do I want to come back to Bollywood but I miss Bollywood. It’s kind of sometimes a love-hate relationship because being a foreigner in India is not always easy. I don’t want to be cast only in the foreign roles which we all know – mostly it’s a bad girlfriend and a good Indian guy. I need to also work more on my Hindi. I plan to spend more time and because I want to dance, sing and act!
What other challenges do you face as a foreigner?
Natalia Janoszek: I’m very open, easy going, I will talk with everyone and it’s different for us in Europe and it’s a bit different in India – so I needed kind of to step back and find my place here. It’s also a different style of acting, I feel like in Europe we are not acting; in Hollywood we are acting; and in Bollywood we are over-acting!! There’s so many people trying to get into Bollywood, I was lucky to start now I’m lucky to actually come back – and I know it’s a long road.
What kind of work were you doing in Europe recently?
Natalia Janoszek: Because of Covid, I switched back to Europe and I was part of three big TV shows. As a star I was on Dancing with the Stars I think you have that in India.
I was on Your Face Sounds Familiar where you we need to impersonate the singers you know. I made it to the final where I was doing Deepika Padukone’s Nagada Song!
