The man, who demanded Rs 5 crore from Bollywood actor Salman Khan to end the actor’s “enmity” with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has apologised saying that he had made a mistake.
The Mumbai Traffic Police on Monday received a message from the same number which issued the threat to Bollywood actor days back, in which he apologised for his mistake and said that it was sent by mistake.
The police have traced the location of the individual to Jharkhand, and a team has been dispatched to the area to apprehend the person responsible.
Earlier on October 18, the Mumbai Traffic Police received a threat message on WhatsApp in which Rs 5 crore was demanded from the actor. It had warned that if Salman failed to pay, his fate would be worse than that of NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was recently assassinated.
“Don’t take this lightly. If Salman Khan wants to stay alive and end his enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, he must pay Rs 5 crore. If the money isn’t paid, Salman’s fate will be worse than Baba Siddique’s,” the WhatsApp message read.
According to the police, the man had identified himself as a close associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and had claimed he could mediate a truce between Khan and the gangster.
Salman’s Security Beefed Up
The Bollywood actor has been receiving death threats since the last few months. The actor has been provided Y+ security, and security around his residence in Bandra and his farmhouse in Panvel, has been beefed up after the threat. Additionally, Mumbai Police have installed AI-powered, high-resolution CCTV cameras with facial recognition technology to enhance security.
In fact, his security has also been increased following the killing of former Maharashtra minister and leader of NCP, Baba Siddique. The three-time MLA was shot at by three men outside his MLA son’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra on Saturday evening. He was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he was declared dead.
The Mumbai Police have arrested 10 accused so far in connection with the murder case.
