Nagarjuna confirms defamation case against Konda Surekha to continue despite retraction: ‘The slander has gone far beyond just me and my family’

Nagarjuna has taken a legal action against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha for her insensitive comments about his son Naga Chaitanya’s divorce from Samantha Ruth Prabhu. In a move to protect his family’s reputation and stand up against exploitation, Nagarjuna has filed a criminal defamation case and is pursuing another Rs 100-crore defamation lawsuit against Konda Surekha.
In an interview with Times Now, Nagarjuna said, “The slander has gone far beyond just me and my family.” He also explained why he’s taking this stance. “We in the entertainment industry won’t be soft targets anymore. It’s as simple as that.” He stressed that politicians cannot use celebrities’ names for their own gain without consequences.
Nagarjuna rejects Konda Surekha’s apology to Samantha Ruth Prabhu as insufficient, citing its failure to address or apologise to him and his family for the hurtful comments.
Nagarjuna made it clear that he will not withdraw the complaint, despite Konda Surekha’s attempted apology. “No, not at all,” he stated firmly. “This is no longer personal.”He addded that the support he and his family has received from the Telugu industry has made him realise that they are in the “process of stemming the rot that has seeped into the core of our system”. He stated that the defamation case and lawsuit aim to caution other politicians against using celebrities’ names in a slanderous manner. He said, “You cannot use our names for political gains.” He also stated that the entertainment industry won’t be “soft targets” anymore, and added, “I am hoping that our legal action against the lady will caution other politicians from using our names in a slanderous way.”
Nagarjuna’s move has garnered widespread support from the Telugu film industry and fans alike. Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, Superstars Allu Arjun, Jr NTR are among those who have come in support of Samantha and the Akkineni family.
