Triptii Dimri ‘Cried A Lot’ After Criticism For Bold Scenes In ‘Animal’: ‘Dimaag Khraab Hogaya…’
Triptii Dimri opened up about crying for days after facing criticism for her intimate scenes in Animal, saying the negative reviews overwhelmed her.
Triptii Dimri has rapidly gained recognition in Bollywood since her debut in Poster Boys (2017). However, it was her extended cameo in the 2023 action-thriller Animal alongside Ranbir Kapoor that truly established her as a household name and the country’s National Crush. While Triptii embraced the adoration that came with her portrayal of Zoya, the praise was coupled with criticism, which deeply affected the actress.
In an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, Triptii opened up about her early struggles, her rise to fame and the emotional toll that “criticism” took on her after Animal hit theatres. She confessed that she cried for two to three days because she wasn’t prepared for the wave of harsh comments that came her way. Triptii grabbed many eyeballs for her intimate scenes with Ranbir in the movie. Before Animal, Triptii was known for doing movies with strong women characters. However, her bold scenes in Animal left social media divided. “Roti thi because dimaag khraab hogaya tha ke kya likh rahe hain log (I would cry because I got mad thinking what people were writing),” she revealed, adding that she found some online remarks to be unnecessarily cruel.
Triptii shared that her sister helped her process the backlash, advising her to take ownership of her journey. Her sister reminded her that she alone knew how hard she had worked to achieve success, which encouraged Triptii to stop dwelling on negativity. Reflecting on her emotional reaction, Triptii added, “Sometimes, crying is the body’s way of telling you to release your trauma.” After allowing herself that emotional release, she felt much better.
Before starring in Animal, Triptii described herself as more relaxed and carefree. However, following her role in the high-profile project, she noticed an increase in both work and scrutiny. While she’s grateful for the opportunities and global love she’s received, Triptii admitted that the criticism was a new experience. “There was no criticism before Animal, but I suppose that’s the side effect of being in a mainstream film,” she remarked.
