Ektaa Kapoor’s response after Pocso case against her, mother over web series
Ektaa Kapoor’s ALTBalaji Telefilms released a statement following a case against the producer and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, under the Pocso Act.
Ektaa Kapoor’s ALTBalaji Telefilms has issued a clarification after a case was filed against the producer and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, for depicting obscene scenes involving minor girls. The statement said that Shobha and Ektaa are not “involved in the day-to-day operations of the company”.
A complaint was lodged against Ektaa and Shobha Kapoor for featuring obscene scenes involving minor girls in an episode of season 6 of web series ‘Gandi Baat’. The series aired on ALTBalaji from February to April 2021. However, the controversial episode is no longer streaming on the platform.
The complaint also claimed that great men and saints have been insulted by using cigarette advertisements in this web series, due to which the sentiments of the complainant have been hurt.
Referring to the complaint, a statement on behalf of Ektaa Kapoor’s ALTBalaji Telefilm Limited was released on Tuesday. “With reference to various media reports regarding the Web Series – ‘Gandi Baat’, ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd. (‘Company’) hereby clarifies that it is fully compliant with all applicable laws including the POCSO Act and any references to the engagement of minors by the Company is entirely incorrect,” the statement read.
The statement further said that Shobha and Ektaa are not “involved in the day-to-day operations of the company”.
“It is further clarified that Mrs Shobha Kapoor and Ms Ektaa R Kapoor are not involved in the day-to-day operations of the Company and the same are managed by separate teams, including its content strategy. The Company has complete faith in the judiciary and is fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation. Since the matter is sub-judice, the Company refrains from commenting in detail,” the statement concluded.
If reports are to be believed, Ektaa and Shoba Kapoor will be appearing for questioning on October 24, as per Mumbai Police.
