A new documentary series about the legendary writer duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, named Angry Young Men, is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The show also features their children, Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar, recalling stories about growing up with the illustrious writers. At the peak of their success, they delivered a string of hits and were reported to be charging more than the biggest heroes of the time.
In the series, Salim Khan has opened up about leaving behind his privileged life in Indore and coming to Mumbai to try his hand at becoming an actor. He became nostalgic as he talked about struggling to make ends meet. Salim Khan recalled how, upon arriving in the city of dreams, he lived at a guesthouse in the Marine Drive area, where he paid Rs 55 rent per month for half a room. He said, “My first ambition was to rent the entire room for Rs 110, but that wish was never fulfilled.”
