Salim Khan Opens Up on Rs 55 Room Rent
Salim Khan remembered his modest origins in Mumbai, having come from a well-settled upbringing in Indore. He resided at a guest home on Marine Drive after coming to the city, where he paid a modest amount of Rs 55 a month for half a room. Salim Khan talked candidly about his financial struggles during this time as well. “Thodi si paiso ya job ki pareshaani toh hoti hi hai- ki kya hoga kaise hoga?” He acknowledged that “Since I needed money, I accepted anything. I did cigarette ads, clothing ads, whatever came my way.”
Despite his early difficulties in the acting world, Salim Khan realized that behind-the-scenes work was his true calling. He revealed, “I could explain a character to actors like Dilip Kumar or Amitabh Bachchan, but I couldn’t perform myself. I had the art of narration and conceiving, but I lacked the art of projection.” Salman Khan’s father eventually decided to give up acting after realizing he would never be able to make it big.
