The filmmaker is currently enjoying the success of his film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ that’s currently streaming on Netflix
Imtiaz Ali rose to fame with the 2007 classic romance Jab We Met that starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. And in an interview with Galata India, he revealed how the pair broke up two days before the shoot was about to get completed.
He revealed, “They broke up at the) end of the film. Most of the film was shot. There were two days after their so-called break-up that we had to shoot. They were absolutely professional. No blemish, nothing at all, whatever is happening in their personal lives. That time Shahid and Kareena were not doing supremely well.”
The filmmaker added, “But these ups and downs keep happening in the lives of filmmakers and actors. But as filmmakers we don’t have to speculate like stock market, judge what we think is right for a particular part and only that works. This is the learning of my life.”
Jab We Met, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor, is a cult classic that is cherished by fans even today. Helmed by Imtiaz Ali, the film has all the aspects from comedy to emotions and happening songs. Shahid Kapoor as Aditya Kashyap to Kareena Kapoor as all-lively Geet won hearts with their acting prowess and unmatchable chemistry. What Kareena Kapoor said
In an interaction with Mid-Day, Kareena Kapoor revealed that she was not sure of taking up the role of Geet in Jab We Met. She added that she was without work at that point as she was rejecting big films. The actress further said that she had not watched any Imtiaz Ali films by then.
“I was actually without work. I hadn’t worked in a year and a half because I was saying no to big films. I was not getting the kind of film that I wanted. Films weren’t working, so I wanted to take a sabbatical for a year and a half. I think Imtiaz called up Shahid and narrated the film. We didn’t even know Imtiaz because he had just made Socha Na Tha. I hadn’t seen the film, Shahid I think had seen the film,” Kareena said.
